Barcelona president Sando Rosell has flown into South Africa - in a desperate attempt to broker a deal for Cesc Fabregas.

Rosell hopes to meet with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger before tomorrow's World Cup final and try to make some progress in their attempts to sign Fabregas.

Arsenal insist Fabregas is not for sale, has five years left on his contract and chief executive Ivan Gazidis is determined not to enter into discussions.

They are increasingly confident of keeping Fabregas and the Spanish midfielder has hinted he may stay after all.

But Rosell is determined not to give up and his flight to South Africa - where Wenger is working for French TV - is a sign they still believe they can get him.

Barca have had a £thirty million bid turned down and are prepared to go to £40m.
