Brazil will be without Elano for the Friday's quarter-final against Holland
The team's medical staff said the former Manchester City midfielder has not recovered from an ankle injury and could be out for the rest of the World Cup.
Elano suffered the injury in a challenge by Ivory Coast defender Cheik Tiote in Brazil's 3-1 win on Sunday and limped out of a training session on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old turned home his second goal of the finals against Ivory Coast, but left the field on a stretcher soon after. The Galatasaray star also scored in Brazil's opening Group G match against North Korea.
