Joe Cole admits the warning signs for England World Cup hopes were evident from the start of their build-up to the tournament.

The former Chelsea midfielder claims Fabio Capello's side were "not good enough" going back to the below par displays before South Africa against Mexico and Japan. England struggled to qualify from their group and were beaten 4-1 by old rivals Germany on Sunday.

Cole believes there are "a lot of issues we need to address" before the Euro 2012 campaign gets under way. He said: "We have to look at ourselves as a group and we weren't good enough from the start of the friendlies, the six games we've played."
