Frank Lampard has warned England must get into opponents' faces to be successful in South Africa.
The Chelsea midfielder is convinced England can take the World Cup by storm if they use the high-tempo style of the Premier League.
Lampard admits England were below par in their final two friendlies against Japan and Mexico but is convinced they will be ready for the big kick-off.
He said: "We have to play with our style and hit them [our opponents] with pressure. That's what we want to do at the World Cup.
"At the end of the day it's so much about the players, and not so much about formations and rollockings from managers. Players have to go out and play.
"We must try to take the positives out of our last two games and put the negatives right for two weeks' time.
"Preparation for warm-up games may be slightly different to preparing for the real thing.
"You have to put everything into the equation and see that these are not the games that are going to win you the World Cup - they are the ones that will get you ready."
Lampard is also insistent that he wants to keep taking penalties despite missing against Japan and, while the World Cup ball has keepers worried, he believes it will help dead ball specialists.
He added: "I was disappointed to miss the penalty, naturally. I hope I will still take them. The manager decides who takes them, not us. I hope he still asks me because I'm always confident of scoring penalties. I'll keep taking them.
"The ball does move. I worked on it in the week in training. It can move and fly over the bar.
"If you catch it right, even from far out, you have a chance. Even if you don't score you put the keeper under pressure because it's hard for him to keep hold of the ball."
