England winger Theo Walcott has passed on his best wishes to the 23-man squad who will travel to the World Cup after he missed Fabio Capello's cut.
The Arsenal player has confirmed reports that he will be one of seven players omitted from the Italian's selection when it is announced at 4pm on Tuesday. Four years ago he was the surprise name by then-manager Sven Goran Eriksson to travel to Germany but the 21-year old will now be left behind.
In a statement released to reporters, Walcott confirmed he "completely respects" Capello's decision.
"I am very disappointed not to be included in the squad going out to South Africa," Walcott said.
"I completely respect Mr Capello's decision.
"I would like to wish the team the best of luck and hope they have a really successful tournament."
A recurring shoulder problem throughout last season and disappointing displays in the recent friendlies with Japan and Mexico are rumoured to have contributed to his demise.
