The French international will go under the knife this summer…
Highly rated winger Frank Ribery has had a rather disappointing season due to a number of injuries, but the French international’s injury problems aren’t over yet.
According to a report in TZ, the Bayern Munich star is being plagued by a groin problem and Ribery has made the decision to go under the knife after this summer’s World Cup to shake off the injury.
It’s not yet known how long Ribery will be sidelined as a result of the operation, but the French international could very well be unavailable when pre-season starts.
Ribery missed the beginning of the 2009-10 campaign due to a knee injury and has since struggled to find his best form. Therefore, head coach Louis van Gaal will be far from happy to see Ribery miss out on the opening weeks of the new season.
The former Olympique Marseille player recently decided to snub clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid and signed a contract extension with Bayern Munich until the summer of 2015.
