A key part of success in this year's Telegraph Fantasy Football World Cup game will be picking a balanced midfield, full of players capable of creating and scoring goals. But who are the best men for the job for every budget?

Frank Lampard (England - £4.8m): since Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti moved away from a diamond formation Lampard has been a revelation, scoring 22 league goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal - £6.0m): a Fantasy Football revelation since he burst on to the scene for Manchester United. Now at Real Madrid, he is just as lethal and scored 18 goals this season.

Andres Iniesta (Spain - £3.8m): the pass master of Spanish football has been on the form of his life in the last two years and is a good bet to be among the assists and man-of-the-match awards.

Rafael van der Vaart (Holland - £3.6m): after a disappointing start to his spell at Real Madrid, the Dutchman has established himself as a force in Los Blancos' midfield and is peaking at the right time.

Landon Donovan (USA - £3.3m): modestly priced for a man in such good condition, if the US of A can get through to the final 16 he will provide decent value.
