Brazil have replaced Spain at the top of the world rankings in the latest FIFA list released today.

The Selecao's rise up the order brings an end to Spain's five-month stint at the summit, with the European champions shuffled back into second place.

Other moves inside the top 10 see Argentina rise two places to seventh, while Portugal are up to third - their highest ever position since the launch of the rankings system in 1993.

Argentina's rise sees England drop to eighth place, while France are down two places to 10th. Holland are in fourth place, with Italy in fifth, Germany sixth and Croatia ninth.

With none of the leading countries in action in the past month, FIFA have credited the movement inside the top 10 to "the devaluation of past results".

Some teams have actually gained ranking points in the past month due to the fact that the devaluation of poor results has led to a greater weighting of successful matches.
