Despite his relative youth, Agger acquired a reputation for playing with great authority and class under Brondby captain Per Nielsen.
The Liverpool man is well-known to English forwards on his national duty; he terrorised them during a 4-1 friendly win for Denmark in 2005.
While at Brondy Agger was long linked to a transfer to a bigger club, and in the January 2006 transfer window, his £5.8 million transfer deal to Anfield made him the most expensive footballer sold abroad by a Danish club.
While Agger is in-and-out of the Liverpool team under Rafael Benítez he cuts an intimidating figure, exemplified by his "memento mori" tattoo.
