Wesley Sneijder will be offered a new contract at Inter Milan to fend off Manchester United.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has made the Dutch forward a £25m target after he helped Holland into the World Cup final.

Sneijder has admitted he is aware of interest but insists he wants to stay at Inter after winning the Champions League with the Italian champions last season.

Sneijder said: “I will stay. I will play next season with Inter. My heart is in Milan.

“With Inter I have won everything last season and I still have a lot more to win: the European Supercup, the Italian Supercup and the Cup Winners’ Cup, all beautiful trophies.”

Ex-Real Madrid star Sneijder, who is due to get married the weekend after the World Cup, will meet with Inter president Massimo Moratti to discuss a new deal which they hope will keep him in Milan.

Sneijder added: “I have a very good feeling at Inter and I don’t want to let them down after winning everything and losing Mourinho. My goal is to be as successful this year with the new coach.

“I’m not surprised by the interest because I’ve been playing well but my intention is to stay at Inter. I want to talk with them later this month about extending my contract.”

Sneijder has been one of the best players of the World Cup and his role in helping Inter achieve the Treble last season has made him one of the most sought after players in Europe.

He was an integral part of Jose Mourinho’s set-up but United were hoping Sneijder may have become available after ex-Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez took charge at Inter.

But it would seem that Sneijder - under contract until 2013 - is happy to stay at Inter if they give him a new deal following his World cup heroics.
