Chile v Spain - Bielsa: Chile must go for victory

Chile coach Marcelo Bielsa insists a three-point haul is the only thing his players should be considering from their clash with Spain, even though a draw would be enough to ensure that the South American side finish top of Group H.

Chile arrived in South Africa in fine form, winning eight of 10 matches since losing to Brazil in a World Cup qualifier last September, and they have continued along the same path in these finals.

In their opening two group fixtures they have recorded 1-0 victories over Honduras and Switzerland.

That has left them three points clear of Spain and Switzerland heading into tomorrow`s third and final round of games, with bottom side Honduras six points back.

Therefore, a point against the European champions in Pretoria would be enough to not only guarantee Chile a place in the last 16 but also top spot in the standings.

For Bielsa though, it would be a mistake for his side to go out looking for the draw.

"I think that it's more difficult to go out looking for the draw than to try to win. For me, to try to win the game is easier than to hold onto a draw in order not to lose."

Spain playmaker Xavi has welcomed the news that Bielsa is not willing to settle for a draw.

The Barcelona ace, whose side are fighting to avoid joining the growing list of big nations to tumble out of the tournament, said: "This is good for Spain, we prefer to face a team that wants to win and this is what's been happening for the last few years with Bielsa.

"We're very happy to see they are going to attack, I think it's going to be a great game."
