Slovakia coach Vladimir Weiss was forced to gamble on the fitness of a trio of players when naming his provisional World Cup squad.

Risky business: Liverpool's Martin Skrtel has been selected in Slovakia's World Cup squad despite his lack of action this season

Weiss's 29-man selection included Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel, who has not played for the Premier League side since breaking a metatarsal bone in his right foot three months ago.

Besiktas's Filip Holosko has also been named despite struggling with the after-effects of a broken leg sustained last year, while fellow striker Robert Vittek of Ankaragucu gets the nod after a recent knee injury.

The squad also includes the coach's son and namesake Vladimir Weiss, who spent the latter half of the Premier League season on loan at Bolton from Manchester City.
